It was 3 years ago this July that I separated from my former wife. Finally, I've filed for a divorce, and the process is speeding right along. At first, it was very difficult because no one else in the family cared about the many gardens I had created ("What!? How can you not care about butterfly weed, or bleeding hearts?) This year, the large cherry tree in the front yard had died - I believe it was because I was not there to tend to its needs. It was cut down. The sumacs were mercilessly dug up and discarded. I always kept them isolated to a small section of the yard, but they had allowed them to grow everywhere! Now, my apartment just has a beautiful deck that my love and I enjoy sitting on, and looking at the many beautiful plants we've put on the deck. Morning glories wrap around the corner posts; forget me nots adorn a potted vase. Elfin thyme paints a purple carpet in the bonsai pots they inhabit. And of course, my many bonsai plants surround us in a miniature forest of serenity. I miss those old plantings, but I've learned to just relax and enjoy the beauty of each now moment in my current place of residence. Thanks for sharing your wonderful story, Clarissa.

Thanks, Ron! It's nice to hear from you. Glad to hear life is treating you so well these days. It's true-- we can make any space we inhabit sacred. It's all up to us.
